Medical Acupuncture is also provided by our Registered Massage Therapist and may be integrated in Swedish massage and cupping appointments at D+A Wellness Centre. Acupuncture is essentially painless and involves inserting solid filiform acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to help promote health and alleviate pain. The needles stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain or trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones that influence the body’s own internal regulating system. The improved energy and balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities and promotes physical and emotional wellbeing.
